Copenhagen Business School (CBS): perhaps the most modest organization in Europe
By analogy with a very memorable advertising slogan of German beer "Carlsberg" ("Probably the best beer in the world"), Copenhagen Business School, located in the heart of Denmark's capital, may well introduce oneself himself as "probably a very good business school." However, while the majority of American and European business schools are literally screaming about the professionalism of their teachers, the number of students or specific strategies of their deans, CBS continues to quietly do their work. Such modesty surprised even some teachers of the school. Sven Dzhungagen (Sven Junghagen), Associate Professor and Director of the School of CBS Graduate school, describes it as only "a Danish phenomenon."
In favor of CBS said three factors. First - this is the size: the school has about 450 permanent professors of that is approximately equal to the total number of teachers of such schools as the Insead, London Business School, IMD and Iese Business School. The number of students is also growing rapidly. To date, the school take courses in more than 11 thousand students, which is 40% more than eight years ago.
Secondly, the school has built its reputation on the close cooperation with the business. A very common reason for criticism of business schools now is that the schools are separated from the real world of business. School is CBS has strong links with local businesses. "Half the time students spend in school, and a half - in the company. And are they really work, "- says Dean EMBA.
The third factor is undoubtedly the deep respect that belong to Scandinavian companies in the world. CBS has built its brand on a combination of innovation and development that has long been recognized native Scandinavian qualities. Copenhagen itself is a vector of gravity - this city is the fifth-most visited in Europe, after cities such as London and Paris.
Freshman Christine Blin (Christine Blin), half-French, half-Icelander, said many of the 40 students enrolled in full-time MBA program this year, hoping to get the final, the practical part of the course in the companies of Copenhagen. 78% of students - not the Danes. Some of them daily to cross the Swedish border, going to school.
Along with the desire not to lose relevance to the Danish industry and development of international relations, CBS has two additional goals: to increase the productivity of their research and to build a reputation provider of world-class MBA program.
